The 2004 Battlegrounds campaign, What’s Your Battleground? took the BG concept a few steps further. As usual there was a fierce one-on-one streetball tournament with 8 of the best street ballers around. This time they weren’t competing for the title of King of the Court, but for King of the World. For the first time athletes from around the globe were battling for the crown. Also included were NBA players, streetball legends and NikeBasketball.com users alike telling us their personal stories about their own Battlegrounds while growing up.

The Air Zoom Huarache 2K4 feature had two interwoven sides to it, Evolution and Inspiration. On the Evolution side users were able to see the 8 predecessor shoes that were used to inspire and create this new elite hoops shoe. On the Inspiration side users could create their own unique shoe by using Nike iD. To take the inspiration side further we displayed the Nike colorways for all the Nike sponsored teams that made it to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament in our own bracket. So if you just wanted to show your school spirit on your feet, it was just a couple clicks away.

In 2004 the NBA All Star Game came to Hollywood. In typical LA fashion we created a glamorous showroom to display the two hot new rides that Nike created exclusively for the game. The LA limited edition Shox VCIII and Huarache 2K4 were given the All-American feel to match the red, white and blue of the game uniforms.

For the Zoom Flight 2K3 we created the High Performance Baller Research area. Within the HPBR you could get a full schematic breakdown of the technology that went into creating this shoe. From the stability system to the maneuverability features. From the propulsion system to the fuselage construction.

The 2003 Battlegrounds campaign, “Kings of the Court”, saw the creation of the BGHQ, where all Battlegrounds information could be acquired. But the real heart of BG is on the various courts throughout the country. From West 4th and The Dome on the east coast to Mosswood and Venice Beach out west, we brought you the battles, the smack talkin’, the TV coverage, the mobile updates and of course the shows that made Battlegrounds the event of the summer.

Supervised the development of the NikeBasketball.com AIM Expression, an Instant Messenger application that allows users to add a mini-version of NikeBasketball.com to their buddy list and buddy message window.

The Battle pitted the best point guards in the world against each other. Users were able to select a background and then decide the matchup they wanted between Steve Nash, Gary Payton, Tony Parker and Jason Kidd.
